My Journey as a Musician

Music has been a part of my life since day one—quite literally. My mum loves to tell the story of how she thought I was crying in my cot, only to realise I was actually singing. From a very early age, I was passionate about music and dance, so much so that I was even bullied at school for dancing like my idol, Michael Jackson. His influence on my early years shaped both my love for rhythm and my sense of performance.

My musical journey began in earnest when I became a rocker, forming a rock band and playing gigs around my home village just outside of London. Those early days were raw and exciting, the perfect environment to channel youthful energy and creativity.

After a period living in Italy, I returned to the UK and settled in Bristol. It was there that I truly discovered funk music, and I instantly fell in love with its danceable grooves and syncopated rhythms. Bristol became the birthplace of my 12-piece Latin funk band, a project that allowed me to blend my love for funk with the vibrant energy of Latin rhythms. Leading such a large and dynamic band was both a challenge and a joy, and it taught me a lot about collaboration and musical expression.

Over the years, I’ve written countless songs spanning a wide range of genres, but funk remains at the core of my music. There’s something so unique about its ability to make people move, smile, and connect. It’s uplifting, it’s happy, and it’s a genre that I feel truly resonates with the human spirit.

For me, funk is more than just a style of music—it’s a celebration of life, and that’s why I’ve continued to dedicate myself to it. Whether it’s through performing, writing, or experimenting with new sounds, funk’s groove and danceability will always be at the heart of my musical journey.
